Main Responsibilities / Activities

The Mechanical Engineer I - Secondary Packaging Lead is responsible for the creation of mechanical designs that meet the technical, project cost, and schedule criteria of projects.  Leading projects through the design and also being a technical contact (both internally and externally) through manufacturing, assembly, debug, final acceptance, and service.

1.     Concept Develop/Design to Standards: Concept and layout technical solutions using MGS standards and/or new technology. Complies and analyzes operational, test and research data to establish performance standards for newly designed or modified machines. Prepare machine layout and detailed drawings.

2.     Deliver Project Scope/Schedule/Budget: Control project costs through efficient design practices.

3.     Documentation: Maintain all technical documentation for assigned projects including but not limited to Functional Specifications, Flow Diagrams, Floorplans, Utility Requirements, …

4.     Lead Design Teams: Project lead, technical contact providing project support through manufacturing, assembly and debug and final acceptance.

5.     Technical Expert/Support: Keep abreast of new applicable technologies. Provide Service support for past projects. Support internal and customer design reviews

6.     Implement Product Standards: Maintain engineering standards

General Responsibilities:

1.     Sales support:  technical consultation, review of customer specifications

2.     Provide support for Customer FAT activities.

3.     Analyzes designs to increase safety, effectiveness and efficiency and reduce costs.

4.     Support and promote the Company’s values through day-to-day words, actions and gestures.

Basic Requirements

1.     BSME or equivalent or 2 year AA degree with 5+ years of relevant work experience

2.     1+ year of automated machine design experience  preferred (with BMSE) or 8+ automated machine design experience with 2 year AA degree (packaging industry preferred)

3.     Proficient in Solid Works

4.     Thorough understanding of machine design including Mechanisms,  Pneumatics, Control devices, Manufacturing practices

5.     Proven problem solving skills

6.     Excellent communication skills, written and oral

7.     Effective interpersonal skills working in an team environment

8.     Strong planning and prioritization skills including the ability to work with limited supervision
